“ADHD Brains, New Tricks”
Executive functioning is a set of skills that can be called upon as needed to perform academic tasks and can greatly influence a person’s ability to achieve their fullest potential.
But what are these skills exactly — and how can parents help strengthen executive functioning in their children with ADHD?
In this presentation, Alex Brosowsky explains the importance of executive functioning and how these skills affect success. He explores:
The five key executive functions.
An in-depth look at the role each executive function plays in achievement.
What parents can do to help.
Bio: Alex Brosowsky is Head of The Quaker School at Horsham, where he helps his students and their families shine by combining his extensive expertise in special education with the empathy he has learned as the father of a child with special needs. An experienced teacher, learning specialist and independent school leader, Alex grew up with a family member with learning disabilities and witnessed the power of excellent independent school special education firsthand. He earned an MSED in Special Education from Hunter College and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership and Management from Northeastern University.
His professional and personal lives converged when, at 6 weeks old, his daughter Pearl suffered a hypoxic stroke resulting in a brain injury. Pearl, whose ballet skills have been watched by millions, is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, ADHD and learning disabilities.
