Homework: What Do You Mean, I Don’t Have To Do It Alone (for Parents of ADHD Kids)
October 1, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Mary Rourke, Ph.D. will be speaking on best practices for parents for handling homework for children with ADHD. For many children and families managing ADHD, homework is one of the most painful times of the day and one of the most frequent sources of ongoing family conflict and distress. This is often because teams neglect to connect our carefully designed multidisciplinary plans to out-of-school activities, like homework. As a result, parents can feel that it is their sole responsibility to help their children manage the significant challenges of homework. In this meeting, we will discuss the homework experience and will offer parents guidance for how to support their children’s development through collaborative management of the homework experience.
Mary Rourke is a licensed psychologist in PA and a certified school psychologist. She directs the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at Widener University, and is a co-director of Dragonfly Psychological Associates, a child and family therapy practice.
